What has been done

Mumbai faced critical threat to its marine life due to pollution on its beaches. It was mainly due to garbage dumping at the beach. The biorock Coral, other activists, local population and the government started to clean-up the beach. Over a few months the beaches became very clean. It was a great effort by each participant. Our organisation spreads awareness among the locals to not litter at the beach and participate in the cleaning activities.

Earlier, mumbai faced much criticism for its dirty beaches. But the situation has been changed in recent years.The beaches have become much cleaner and is attracting tourists from all over the world.

Future work

Garbage on the beaches have been cleaned on a large scale. But huge amounts of plastic wastes still remain in the seabed that was accumulated over the years. Due to lack of gear and trained volunteers, The process to clean it has been very slow. We are trying to speed up this campaign by training more and more volunteers who can clean-up seabeds and gaining access to the needed equipments.

The campaign at Mumbai is one of our largest projects. We have over 3000 volunteers at mumbai who are making great effort in cleaning the beaches.
